There are so many RV's to choose from new and used and, of course, you want to find the one that suits your needs and your price range. We've had people as far away as South Dakota contact us about an RV or Camper that they are considering purchasing in Upstate New York or as far away as Dallas, Pennsylvania. It is difficult to buy a vehicle if you don't know what to look for, because you never really know what you are getting. Of course the person selling it to you, whether a dealer or individual, will tell you that everything works and it's in great shape. Although there are many people that have integrity and you can trust them, there are so many you can't trust. We always explain to anyone who contacts us that because you as the buyer are making a tremendous financial investment, you should consider having the vehicle inspected ahead of time and receive an unbiased factual detailed report.. . We here at DR Dave's RV and Trailer Repair have done many RV and Camper Inspections. Not only is David a Registered RV Technician and Appliance Specialist, he is also a Certified NRVIA Inspector. We have a 250 Point Inspection that people have really appreciated. The inspection covers every area of your trailer. We test the roof, plumbing, side walls, doors, windows, storage, awnings, slide outs, chassis/frame, steps, electric, utilities, converter, generator, propane, appliances, furniture, floors, walls, cabinets, interior, safety features, etc. We actually perform tests on many of these and we generate an in-depth report to you the consumer. We also take pictures of problem areas, ask questions about warranties, previous owners, any accidents, etc. We can even test drive the vehicle and report what we find there. Some of our customers like to be present for the inspection while others live too far away.. . The unique part of our business that no other business that we know of has is what we call our LOOK AND STOP feature. That means if you hire us to do an inspection, when we arrive at the vehicle we look for the more obvious and costly problems right away. This could take up to half an hour and If we find serious issues, we call you the buyer immediately and let you know. If you decide yes go ahead, we continue with the full inspection and charge you the full inspection price. But if you decide that you do not want us to continue with the inspection, we stop, pack up and go home. At that point we charge you only for the minimum $90 labor charge and travel expenses to your vehicle of $35.00 per hour one way only. All other companies that we know of do not offer the LOOK AND STOP. No matter what they find they continue with the full inspection and charge you full price and you end up spending good money on a useless report.. . The immediate problems that we would be searching for would include water damage inside or out, delamination (very serious problem), roof problems (also very expensive), rust, the smell inside the RV - (sometimes if people have smoked the smoke sticks to everything and it is nearly impossible to remove), any obvious accident damage and any stained walls or ceilings. Stained walls and ceilings could mean mold and mildew which can grow exponentially and cause serious health issues. The inspection takes approximately anywhere from 4 to 8 hours to complete depending upon the size of your vehicle.. . We are happy to answer any questions that you may have. We can give you a price for the inspection once we have all the details regarding the vehicle you are interested in purchasing.
