Who operates the school?. Salem Christian School is operated and administrated by Carla Hannah. Carla holds Teaching Certifications Pre-K through 12 in both West Virginia and California. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Master's Degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching. Carla has been a teacher in the traditional site-based public school system, in the traditional site-based Christian school and in an independent study public charter school. During the 2011-12 school year she was a substitute teacher for Doddridge County Elementary, Middle School and High School; spending the last 3 1/2 months of the school year as a long term substitute teaching Art at the High School.. . What curriculum does the school use?. Salem Christian School uses the proven, highly successful Accelerated Christian Education curriculum and management system. The A.C.E. system has been successfully used in hundreds of school throughout the nation for over 40 years.. . How does a multi-grade classroom function?. Each student is individually assessed and placed at the exact point of their academic level. They then work at their own pace and ability. They are taught how to effectively set their own daily goals and work through their curriculum independently, with teacher assistance as needed. Students work in study carrels called “offices.” As they proceed through their curriculum they are assigned hands on experiments and projects to complement what they are learning. They also are assigned to work on specific projects using computer technology. Students attend group classes as well for Bible study and discussion.. .
