Salish Kootenai College is the first (and only) tribal college to provide a Bachelors Degree program in the field of Forestry. SKC is also the only tribal college with 4-year Wildlife-Fisheries and Hydrology degrees. . . The SKC Forestry & Natural Resources Club is a student founded organization that is managed by students along with a faculty advisor. The goal of the club is to promote a sense of environmental stewardship as well as a sense of camaraderie among students. In essence, the aspect of environmental stewardship is not only approached as a physical science, but also as a continuation of land stewardship that has been in place among Native American culture for centuries. Camaraderie among members is achieved through student led activities and learning experiences. . . Membership in the club is not limited to students in the Natural Resources field, it is open to any student that has an interest in the environment. The SKC Forestry Club holds bi-weekly meetings that are open for all to attend. There are also fund-raising efforts in place that support participation of SKC students in the annual Intertribal Timber Council conference (a professional group for tribal foresters) as well as provide Jackets for graduating seniors.. .
