The Saskatchewan Epilepsy Program was established in 2007 by Dr. Jose Tellez to help improve the care of epilepsy patients in Saskatchewan. . . The comprehensive Saskatchewan Epilepsy Program is a multi-disciplinary team of adult and pediatric epileptologists, epilepsy surgeons, neuropsychologists, EEG technologists, nurses, functional MRI , and medical office assistants that cohesively provide comprehensive care. The program has produced numerous contributions in clinical research with strong national and international recognition.. . The program also has expanded the services for patients with epilepsy in Saskatchewan, including epilepsy surgery, Canada’s first epilepsy brain bank, functional MRI, PET/CT scan, video-EEG telemetry, implantation of depth electrodes, implementation of portable EEG devices, the implementation of Single Seizure Clinical, vagal nerve stimulation and deep brain stimulation for selected patients. . . The goal of the program is to provide the most advanced care for patients with seizures, and especially seizures that are difficult to control. We are committed to comprehensive diagnosis and provide the most effective multi-modality of treatment for each patient with epilepsy.. . The program received funding through donations from the Royal University Hospital Foundation to acquire new adult video-EEG telemetry equipment and a shared adult-pediatric video-EEG telemetry equipment.
