Detailed description is An Equine Facilitated Learning program using thoroughbreds who have been through our rehabilitation and transition program. Second Chance Ranch (SCR), a 501c3 nonprofit organization, has served the community since 1999. In 2012 we transitioned from the rescue, rehabilitation and transitioning of retired thoroughbred racehorses to become a sanctuary for these magnificent athletes! . . The program, “Leading with Horses” (LWH), offers Equine Facilitated Learning and Coaching (EFL) that is unique to the Northwest. Our distinctively trained horses partner with us to demonstrate their exceptional capacity of teaching and healing abilities.. . The mission of SCR is to provide solutions for social, emotional, and behavioral growth through direct intervention and community outreach. . . The LWH program is based on cognitive science, intuitive learning, and sequential processing. We provide a unique transformational learning opportunity through non-riding equine interactions. It is our belief that innovative learning environments will put kids on the path to becoming tomorrow’s inventors, thinkers, and leaders. . . Using concepts of The Pacific Institute education platform, we empower both children and their families to optimize their learning ability and to achieve their full potential. .
