Detailed description is Seeds & Spores Family Farm is a diversified farm located south of Marquette on the banks of the Chocolay River. Seeds and Spores is a diverse family farm located south of Marquette on the banks of the Chocolay River. Our main focus is growing 10 acres of mixed vegetables. We raise heritage breed hogs and Scottish Highland and Red Angus cattle, as well as laying hens, broiler chickens, and turkeys. In addition, we grow medicinal plants and shiitake and oyster mushrooms.. We strive to create an integrated farm organism. Our farm is Certified Naturally Grown (CNG), and all of our produce and livestock are raised using only natural and authentic farming techniques. We are building a living, mineralized soil to grow healthy plants to nourish healthy people by adding minerals and micronutrients, Bio-Dynamic Preparations, kelp, compost, and more to our soil. Pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or growth hormones are never used on our farm. . We grow food for our CSA members, the Marquette Food Coop, and local restaurants. We also sell our products at the Marquette Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings, from May to Dec. Our farm store is open Thurs and Fri 2-6pm and Sat 2-5pm from May through October. . This is our 17th year farming in the area, and we are inspired by the communities’ positive response to and support of our endeavors. We are committed to provide quality local food to help sustain our community and environment..
