Detailed description is The Seton Hill Universtiy Pipe Band is an E.U.S.P.B.A. registered pipe band located in Greensburg, PA. In August of 2007, in conjunction with Seton Hill University unveiling plans to build a new $21 million performing arts center in downtown Greensburg, PA, also announced was an exciting partnership with the newly named Seton Hill University Pipe Band. . . With this partnership, the band is featured at University events such as homecoming, alumni days and commencement. Promoting the rich cultural heritage of Seton Hill University, we also have the privilege and honor to display the Seton Hill University banner at competitions and performances across the United States and into Canada. . . In 2012, under the direction of Pipe Major Josh Dobbin, the band went through a rebuilding phase introducing a completely new repertoire, competition medley and MSR. SHUPB made its way onto the field once again for the 2013 season, placing in the top 4 of every competition they attended. . . Over the next few years many new faces appeared in the band, membership nearly doubled and new, exciting opportunities were made possible. In 2014, the band was privileged to join Gaelic Storm on stage at the Palace Theater as their opening act and later performing a featured ensemble tune. During the 2015 season, the band hosted a Celtic Themed Concert at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroeville, PA. This concert showcased the many musical talents of our members with a special arrangement involving string instruments, bagpipes and drums. Later that year, the band traveled to the beautiful Finger Lakes region and competed at the Ithaca Highland Games, taking 1st place overall.. . During the 2016 season, SHUPB fielded nearly 30 members, from West Virginia and all parts of Pennsylvania. The band took 1st place at the Ohio Scottish Festival in June and more recently competed at the Edinboro Highland Games receiving “Best Drum Corp” and again taking 1st place in the overall band competition. . . The long, decorated history of Seton Hill University Pipe Band and of its members is one of dedication and perseverance. With the ever growing distractions of daily life, we understand the need to set realistic goals and strive to better not only the band as a whole, but individual confidence and ability.. . Seton Hill University Pipe Band offers developing musicians’ complete and extensive education in piping or drumming. Understanding that instruction is a very individual experience and each student has different methods of learning, we therefore customize our programs to fit the goals and abilities of the student. Piping and drumming instruction is available and open to all ages, whether you are a student of the university or not.. . We take pride in our performances and our role as ambassadors of Scottish piping and drumming for Seton Hill University.
