SGT Shane P Duffy is a local hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice on June 4th 2008 Sgt Shane Duffy 22, of Taunton, Mass.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died June 4 in Tikrit, Iraq, of wounds sustained in Sharqat, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using small-arms fire and hand grenades.
