Detailed description is The Alpha Zeta Chapter of Sigma Phi Lambda (Sisters for the Lord) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Est. 2011. Sigma Phi Lambda is a Christian sorority that strives to glorify God by providing a source of fellowship for college women who sincerely seek to know His person, His will, and His ways. We are a non-denominational organization of sisters where fellowship with our most high God is fostered by growth in unity with one another.. . Our heart and passion can be summed up in our sorority verse, Romans 15: 5 - 6: "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves at you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and one mouth, you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.". . Sigma Phi Lambda exists for the sole purpose of glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ and making His name great.. . Because of this purpose, the sorority is not presently, nor will it ever be Panhellenic. It is the sorority's desire to abide by the rules God has given rather than the rules and traditions of Panhellenic organizations.. . . Sigma Phi Lambda at the University of Tennessee was founded on much prayer, the incredible guidance and wisdom from the Lord, and with great love, effort, time, and steadfast commitment by the founders and charter members in the spring of 2011. The five founders are Ashton (Doane) Dowling, Allison (Henry) Whitney, Brittany Webster, Lauren Bright Ingram, and Ann Holly Schreiber. The four charter members are Lindsey Pugh, Christine (Beard) Bell, Katelyn Holland, and Anne Grace Robertson. Our chapter is continuing to grow, and we hope that you will be a part of our sisterhood in Christ.
