Small World Childcare began in 1983 as a three-day per week Preschool Program held in the activity room of the New Glarus Retirement Home.
As the center grew, the program was moved to the Zwingli House of the Swiss United Church of Christ.
In 1992, Small World’s Board of Directors and Administration recognized the need in the community for a full time, full day childcare program.
Small World purchased the building at 107 Second Street to help make the dream a reality.
In January of 2000, our school-age program was moved into the New Glarus Elementary School building to better meet the growing need for school-age care in the community.
In 2005, Small World collaborated with the New Glarus School District to provide four-year-old kindergarten instruction.
Small World is a not-for-profit organization overseen by a Board of Directors.
