Community Education classes, programs, seminars, workshops, and camps offer a variety of opportunities for cultural, educational, and life-enriching activities for all ages. Offered in a relaxed non-credit atmosphere at an affordable price, all activities are designed to be informative and enjoyable. Instructors are chosen for their special expertise in subjects that others may want to learn. Classes vary and may include instruction in hobbies, crafts, dance, exercise, relaxation, music, golf, art, first aid/safety, self-improvement, computer software applications, and entrepreneurship. Courses are offered throughout the week at various times and locations and vary in length. New schedules are released three times per year.. . Also, among the community offerings are special programs. These include fairs (like a bridal fair or job fair); Camp Lotsafun (a summer day camp for children ages 6 to 12); other short-term camps (like a cheerleading camp); Noon Symposia; and seminars.. . . New Courses . . Courses are organized on demand. Anyone interested in classes not listed in the schedule or anyone wanting to be added to the class schedule e-mail list may contact the Corporate and Community Education office at (870) 864-7192 or email ce@southark.edu .. . . Instructors. . Community Education instructors are selected for their skills and expertise in a variety of areas. They do not need a degree in what they teach. Anyone interested in teaching may call (870) 864-7192 or email ce@southark.edu . You will be sent a course proposal form to fill out and return. After the proposal has been received and reviewed, the prospective instructor will be contacted.. . . Registration. . High school graduation or previous college attendance is NOT required to take a community course. To register and pay for a community course, students may use one of the following options: (1) Call 870-864-7163 to register and pay by credit card; (2) Go to the bookstore on the West Campus to register and pay; (3) Go to the Center for Workforce Development on the East Campus to pay (must have correct amount or a check). Students are officially registered in a course when they complete registration and pay fees by one of the options available. The College reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment. Register early so the class you want doesn’t cancel because we did not know you were planning on coming.
