Southside Baptist Christian School is an educational organization that offers formal academic training for students in kindergarten through grade 12.
SBCS is a fully accredited K-12 educational institution through the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS) which is an authorized accrediting body of the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) and the Virginia Department of Education.
SBCS is nationally accredited through the National Council for Private School Accreditation.

SBCS operates on an 8-hour school days with elementary students receiving instruction in core subjects of math, English, social studies, science and Bible.

HISTORY.

The year was 1987 and Dr.
Lonnie S.
Stinson, the Pastor and Founder of Emmaus Road Baptist Church in Garysburg, North Carolina was ready to depart to the land that God had shown to him - Richmond, Virginia.
It was a step of faith, a sincere belief in a God who promised that wherever He would lead, He would feed and where He would guide, He would certainly provide.

In 1989, it became clear that the faithful, 25-member congregation was in need of a bigger facility.
Dr.
Stinson held firmly to the belief that "Where there is no vision, the people perish." They did not have much, but they had an unshakable faith in a God whose hand of provision could be clearly seen.
In five short years the tiny congregation had also learned that the needs of this church were met on their knees.

In 1992, burdened to meet the need of working parents with school-age children in the community, Dr.
and Mrs.
Stinson started the Community Action Program of Southside or CAPS Program as it came to be called.
The CAPS Program was only one example of the ministries implemented by Dr.
and Mrs.
Stinson to meet the needs of the families and communities served by Southside Baptist Temple.
Southside was a busy church - "...
always abounding in the work of the Lord ...." There were ministries to meet the needs of everyone from the youngest infant in the nursery to the senior saints.
Dr.
Stinson was determined to let the community know that SBT was truly "The Ministry That Cares!" .

In the fall of 1999, Dr.
& Mrs.
Stinson were led of God to open a school that would uphold the testimony of Christ while providing the best of the best in quality, Christian education.
So with another leap of faith, Southside Baptist Christian School opened its doors to welcome the first 110 students ranging from K4 through the 12th grade! Since that special day in August of 1999, Dr.
& Mrs.
Stinson have not looked back.
With the support of the SBM family as well as a dedicated faculty and staff, Southside Baptist Christian School has been blessed beyond measure...GOD IS STILL DOING GREAT THINGS!.

The objective of a quality, Christian education is outlined very clearly in Deuteronomy 6:5-7.
In addition, God's Word gives us another purpose in Proverbs 22:6..."Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.".
