Detailed description is FIRST NASA/Girl Scout Robotics Team The Space Cookies are a student-led team of girls from high schools across the Bay Area working in partnership with NASA Ames Research Center and the Girl Scouts of Northern California. The Space Cookies Robotics Team has 74 girls from 25 high schools across Silicon Valley and beyond and takes part in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics competitions annually. Members participate in hands-on engineering, mechanical design, fabrication, electronics, programming, marketing, graphic design, and community outreach.. . Outside of building a robot, our team conducts extensive community outreach including mentoring three FLL (FIRST LEGO League) teams, hosting our own FLL tournament, volunteering at sponsor events throughout the year, creating a "Physics of Engineering" class at Castro Valley high school, mentoring FRC Team 4159 CardinalBotics (who went on to win the Rookie All-Star Award at the 2012 Davis Regional), and much more.. .
