Detailed description is I am a full-time Speech Pathologist, wife and mom to 2 beautiful young girls. I found an easy way to add fitness and clean eating into my busy lifestyle. I became a speech pathologist in 1997 with the purpose of helping individuals to rehabilitate after brain injuries or strokes to communicate with others. I then moved in to the school setting in 1998 and have been working with students aged 3-12 years old ever since. I work with a diverse student population, disabilities include: speech/articulation and expressive language delays; auditory processing and receptive language disorders; social/pragmatic language disorders; verbal and written expression disorders and more. I work with students with diagnosis such as ADD, ADHD, PDD and various genetic disorders. I have seen the effects of poor nutrition on students abilities to focus and remain alert during the day. I have seen how the lack of exercise during the winter months negatively affects both students and teachers. I have witnessed children during medication changes/adjustments and the negative effects on their appetites, nutrition, sleep patterns and overall health.. . Onto me, and my journey. I have always been an 'athlete' loving to run, swim, bike, take exercise classes at my local Y. However, with my full time job, mothering two young girls and a husband traveling at least one week a month, I found it difficult to fit it all in. Last winter could have destroyed my health mentally and physically, but I found the Beachbody program, the 21 DAY FIX, and it saved my life! During one of the most depressing winters in MA history, I woke up in the dark at 5:30 every morning to complete my workouts, and followed the nutrition plan every day to fuel my body with healthy foods! I felt great at school, when other people around me were feeling down, gaining weight and getting depressed. I began to notice that I was more alert at work and completing things in a more timely manner. I did not hit the wall every afternoon at 2, (I'd be lying if I said I NEVER hit the wall at 2). My family started noticing changes in me too. I was happier at home, I had more energy and I looked better. My family began eating everything that I ate, all the 21 DAY FIX approved recipes too; stuffed peppers, meatloaf, zoodles with pesto and more.
