Detailed description is A resource center on campus to provide information and build awareness about gender and sexuality. The GSC is located in Ytterboe 241, and its purpose is to be a safe and affirming space for all students, regardless of gender or sexuality. It is a resource center that seeks to educate by increasing awareness and creating dialogue around issues of gender and sexuality, including feminism, queer and ally issues, transgender issues, and safe sex practices, as well as the intersectional effects of these issues. The GSC is intended to be a resource center that will hold events and provide information to anyone who wants to learn more about gender, sexuality, and their place in the St. Olaf Community. Check out our awesome library of g/s related books, study in our 24 hour safe space, and attend our sweet events.. . Bi-weekly Queer Support Group occurs on Thursdays at 8pm in Ytt 241. QSG is an open and accepting space where any queer-identified student is welcome. The group is not an official confidential resource of the college (i.e. we are still mandatory reporters when it comes to fear of harm or danger), but we have a confidentiality policy between group members in regards to what is shared at QSG. "What's said here stays here," unless it is distinctly worrisome and poses an immediate danger to oneself or others, in which case it will be shared with the appropriate authorities in order to promote safety. Regardless, nothing shared in QSG will ever be passed on to other St Olaf students, the names of those who attend QSG will never be made public, and only the facilitator will ever share information with those not present (in the event of an emergency or dangerous situation)..
