A couple of years ago,I was cleaning a glass pipe of mine and got very frustrated!! All the soaking and tooth picks and little pieces of wire!! It was quite messy.
I got it clean and then proceeded to drop it!!And of course like most glass it broke!! I was thinking??There has to be a better way!!! So with my back ground as a wood worker, machinist and jewelry maker, I started thinking about what would make a easy to clean and DURABLE pipe that would look good and smoke good.Wood in all of its natural colors and patterns is beautiful.But only certain types of wood are good for making pipes.And even then they tend to burn thru after time and you can only get them so clean,and they leave a burnt taste.I never cared for brass pipes, they are a bit easier to clean but still leave a weird taste in your mouth.Then I thought silver!!! No after taste,a very clean metal, very durable.So I started tinkering and made a couple of proto types and was very happy with the results!!The hardest part was making the bowel ,cutting and fitting and soldering....very time consuming.Then I heard about spin forming.A process that allows me to form a 1 piece bowl from a single disc of silver..UREAKA!!! It was starting to come together!! I started reading everything I could find on spin forming, watching videos on youtube anything I could find.The process took me a little over a year,from getting a lathe,making the mandrils to actually being able to produce something I was happy with.Now almost 2 years later I have a product That I love!!!
