Detailed description is Our old country recipes have been modernized to serve the people in the park slope community. When we prepare a sumptuous meal for you, its like preparing for our own family. SBP’s roots date back to the early 1800’s when the recipes we currently use were formulated and handed down through the generations to Giovanni & Anna Rizzi who were born in Mola di Bari, Italy in the 1930’s. When they migrated to the United States, they brought those same old world Italian recipes with them. In the 1980’s Giovanni & Anna’s son Peter Rizzi opened his first restaurant in Brooklyn, New York using the Rizzi family’s old world recipes. The restaurant was so highly successful that Pete was able to launch ten additional restaurants in a short time span. In the early 2000’s after a highly successful career and being thought of by his peers as a highly respected restauranteur, Pete decided to sell his many restaurants and spend more time with his wife of 23 years Kim and his three children PJ, Taylor and Skyla. After selling his restaurants Pete quickly realized that the restaurant business was in his blood and he felt compelled to return to the business that he loved and Sweet Basil Pizzeria (SBP) was born!
