Detailed description is The Ohev Sholom Mikvah Chaim (est. 2014) is an inclusive, kosher mikvah open to individuals from all streams of Judaism.. The Agam Center is our opportunity to redefine the responsibilities of a mikvah within a community. More than simply a physical place to immerse, the Agam Center is a space to address women's wellness and spirituality in a communal setting. In addition to offering a beautiful, welcoming mikvah, the Agam Center provides education, programming, and resources on a variety of topics relavent to a Jewish woman throughout her lifetime - regardless of her personal mikvah practice. The purpose of The Agam Center is to tend to the spiritual needs and wellness of the women of the community through educational, celebratory, and supportive programming, closer community connections, and access to community resources and support. The Agam Center is also home to our beautiful Mikvah Chaim, a space for spiritual renewal and every individual mikvah practice. . . The Ohev Sholom Mikvah Chaim is an inclusive, kosher mikvah open to individuals from all streams of Judaism.. . In Judaism, water is a symbol of life. It is no wonder that Sages tell us that when beginning a Jewish community our first act is to build a mikvah. Even before a synagogue is built, we must have mayim chayim, “living waters” to be able to function as a Jewish community. Like ancient mikvaot, Mikvah Chaim contains living waters. “Living water” means running or moving water, and comes from a God-given source such as rain, snow, ice, spring water or the ocean. Because the mikvah is a symbol of spiritual cleansing, transformation, and renewal, individuals come to the living waters at times of change in their lives or to commemorate a special occasion.. . Here are some popular, evolving uses for today’s mikvah:. - Immersion by couples prior to the wedding ceremony. - Men, women and children’s conversions to Judaism. - Taharat Hamishpachah, the mitzvah of women’s traditional monthly immersion. - Marking transformations in women’s bodies such as onset of menstruation, miscarriage, infertility, pregnancy, the birth of a child or menopause. - Preparations for Shabbat and holidays. - Honoring personal milestones. - Beginning anew by marking the end of a period of mourning, divorce, or recovery after illness. . Immersing in the mikvah can be a time for reflection and spiritual elevation. Our staff is available to work with you to create the spiritual environment and immersive experience you desire. Our attendants have been extensively trained with the expectation of the utmost sensitivity to any of our patrons’ needs, including special training in breast cancer awareness and fertility sensitivity.
