Hello and welcome to the Blanket Fort. I'm here to have fun and explore. I hope you do to. I am Sylvia Lange, born and raised in Cordova Alaska. Art has always been in my life, and I love doing creative things, but "artist" is not a handle I've embraced. I know artists, and they work very hard and are dedicated people. My life has been lived on the sea and living by the sea, first with my parents, and later on my own as I followed in their footsteps as a commercial fisher. I married a commercial fisherman, and we have 3 grown children. Yes, some of them fish too. And one is an artist. I have dabbled in art workshops over the years, took a college art course or three, and am drawn to museums and art shows. I am Alaska Native, my Aleut paternal grandmother was born on the Alutian Island of Unga, and my maternal grandmother was Tlingit, born in Yakutat. My grandfathers were Dane and German, and found their way to Alaska at the turn of the century. Alaska is home, always has been, and bits and pieces of it work into my life and will work into my art work. Here we go!
