My name is Christina Dennis and I created TheDIYMommy.com in June of 2009. I’m a mom of two living on an acreage west of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.. . With my first daughter 6 months old, I was having a difficult time finding free resources online to make trendy & cute baby clothing and accessories. The DIY Mommy started as a place where I could share fun baby crafts and it slowly morphed into something more – a varied collection of crafts for not only babies, but for moms and homes too. Not only do I love to share my creative ideas on the blog, I also share little snippets of my life as a work-at-home mom along the way.. . Before becoming a mom, I earned my diploma in music performance and then a certificate in graphic and web design. I’ve always been a lover of all things creative, and after my first baby girl was born in January 2009 I found new inspiration in this tiny and beautiful little being. Crafting special projects for little C was natural and fun and a welcome pastime when babe was asleep. From crafting to clothing design, I soon launched an indie baby clothing & accessories label called Golly Gee Baby. In 2011, another angelic little girl was born to me and my hubby – Baby A. In 2012, our family embarked on our biggest DIY ever: building a house from basement to dormer all by ourselves on our country acreage!. . I’ve also been honoured to have written for such print publications as Urban Infant and Alive Magazine. I’ve also appeared on CTV Edmonton Morning Live and was an expert on the panel of Mama Blogs. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with great brands such as Lowe’s Canada, Nokia Canada, Modern Mama and Windsor Plywood Edmonton.. . I love sewing, decorating, sleeping, making cookies, playing with my girls and messing around on my computer. I hate sports, organizing, cleaning my house and driving in the big city.. .
