Detailed description is We're a club at the University of Washington with members that are interested in learning more about the fascinating universe that we live in.
As an RSO open to all UW undergraduates, our goal is to hold fun astronomy-themed events for club members as well as outreach to share our interest in astronomy with the public.
We hold free astronomy/physics tutoring, movie nights, and star parties, and we are looking in to some interesting places we could go to visit.
In collaboration with the astronomy department, we take trips to use the 30'' telescope at Manastash Ridge Observatory (MRO) outside of Ellensburg.
We are also very excited to be working on a student-run research project using the 2.7 meter telescope at Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO) in Victoria, BC.
If you have any ideas for other things you think we should do, feel free to tell us! We also would like to play a supporting role for the astronomy department here.
We plan to help out with things like cleaning the MRO facility to prepare for taking observations during the summer, or putting on planetarium shows.
In addition, we are involved in outreach activities at the on-campus historic observatory, TJO..
