I'm so excited to introduce you to my new tutoring business! The Learning Corner is a tutoring company based in Layton, Utah. I specialize in tutoring children with Dyslexia. I use an Orton-Gillingham based method to tutor. This is a hands on approach to reading, specifically geared towards helping students with dyslexia. Students get to use different senses to learn to read. Not only is it fun and engaging for students, but it also teaches them to read the way that best fits their needs.. . Here's a little background on me! After over 5 years of teaching, I decided to become a one-on-one tutor. I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages from Brigham Young University. I taught first grade for two years and second grade for over 3 years. I was also able to receive higher training in teaching reading to students, including some Reading Recovery Practices. During my time in teaching, I fell in love with teaching children to read, write and spell. I have helped over 100 students make exceptional gains in reading. The light that illuminates a child's eyes when they learn to read is magical to me.. . My goal as a tutor is to help students bridge the gap. I teach in a way that makes sense to their individual learning style and helps them make great gains. Their confidence soars when they are able to feel successful, and that's what I love best...helping kids find their success!
