Detailed description is The Prodigal House is a church with a vision of supporting men who are overcoming alcohol and drug addiction, as well as ministering to their families. In 2008, Rickey & Dede Ricketson from Broxton, GA began to have a burning desire in their hearts to create a ministry and do something truly out of the ordinary to help people with addiction issues. This desire was sparked after numerous trips with the youth from their church to City of Refuge in Atlanta, GA, where they first realized that addiction was not merely a problem, but had become a very real eidemic in America. After much prayer and thought, Rickey and Dede decided on a name for their new outreach ministry, The Prodigal House. The name came from the story found in Luke 15:11-24, where a young man who had gone astray finally came to his senses and returned home to his Father who truly loved him. . This ministry is built on 3 basic principles: Love, Acceptance, and Accountability. We believe that while recovering addicts must complete a 1st step Bible-based recovery program, they must also participate in a 2nd step Bible Based recovery program, as it is equally vital for them to learn how to live and grow in their newfound success and freedom. The Prodigal House Ministry is a minimum 12 month Bible-based recovery housing facility for men. Every man at The Prodigal House transitions from a 1st step Bible based recover facility and is placed in a safe housing environment with house leaders. Here they will continue building on the Biblical foundation that has been laid. They will be given the opportunity to discover gifts and talents that have been hidden within them just waiting to be uncovered. In time, they will be placed back into the workforce, community, and society under the covering of The Prodigal House. . We think you would agree that families are suffering because men have ceased to take their place as leaders in all arenas of life. With the help of the Lord and supportive individuals who believe that if we support and encourage these men to rise up and become the godly leaders God created them to be, our homes and communities around the nation will take a drastic turn for the better. . No man who comes to The Prodigal House is asked to pay; in fact, we do just the opposite by helping each man rebuild his life one day at a time free of charge.
