Detailed description is The Shak is a stationary food truck owned and operated by Robert Prine.
We are located at the four-way stop in Osyka, MS.
We serve breakfast from 6-9am and lunch from 11-2pm which include all things BBQ, homemade hamburgers, salads and more.
Sometimes you just know when something is right.
A feeling comes over you that, yes, this is the right thing to do.
Robert grew up in a home lacking in monetary blessings but full of love and good cookin’.
Lib Prine just knew how to cook and fill the stomachs of her 6 precious children.
Growing up in a home filled with savory aromas three times a day, Robert acquired, of course, a love of food at its best and later on in life a passion for cooking.

At first, his working path led him to other fields.
He excelled in welding, taught to him by his dad, Jessie.
With a wife and kids to support he was thrust into the field of boiler making.
Through the years he attempted various occupations such as firefighting, service station and grocery store entrepreneurship, and metal building erector, but it seemed that the path always led him back to boilermaking.
This occupation paid well, but the men and women pay the sacrifice of toiling in the worst of weather conditions, laboring in a dangerous environment, grueling twelve to fourteen hour days, and 7 day work weeks on end, and being on the road nearly 6 months or more of the year.

Ten years, twenty years, thirty years passed with the man missing main events in his family’s life: his kids’ first steps, birthdays, his daughter’s dance and band shows, his son’s baseball games, football games, grandbabies being born, and many, many more.
These milestones could never be recreated.
His absence was accepted and tolerated, and inevitable because he had a family to support..
Two or three years ago Robert knew he could not keep up the grueling boilermaker’s life much longer.
Sixty-six was staring him in the face.
A 16 X 16 little brown shack that once was utilized by the Bullock family in Osyka at the corner of highway 584 and 51, became available.
It had stood vacant for a year or two.
Now he and his wife began planning.
Instead of pulling a food wagon from place to place on weekends, as his plan had first sprouted, why not purchase this little building, located at the busiest intersection in Osyka and go with it?.
The plan fell into place.
For a year and a half, on weekends between turnarounds, he’d toil, construct, and shop for equipment.
With a huge amount of effort, Robert, with only a 10 X 40 foot empty trailer, working alone, designed a state of the art stainless steel kitchen, remodeled it from floor to ceiling, and actually installed everything he’d need to prepare the type food he’d grown up loving to eat.
He even created a stainless steel BBQ pit from a huge commercial refrigerator someone gave him.
Robert moved the trailer behind the shack and attached it by building a hallway adjoining the two.
The SHAK was opened on March 13, 2017, one month after Robert officially retired from Ohmstede Industrial Services.
The first week was astonishing.
Robert was blessed..
There’s one thing that’s been omitted simply to save it until the end.
That little feeling mentioned at the beginning? Robert and his wife believe that God had a way of speaking them and allowed amazing things to happen.
None of this could have been accomplished without having that approval he and his wife both felt from their amazing Savior.
He gave Robert the ingenuity, foresight, strength, and health to accomplish this feat.
Other persons have been instrumental in getting this business off the ground, but Robert gives all the glory to GOD for allowing him to, finally, after 45 plus years away from home, work and thrive in the quaint little town of Osyka.
He’s home every night and he’s doing what he loves…….
