My name is John ODonnell Rosales and I am the Director of "The Spanish Quarter, Mobile, Alabama Association". I welcome you to the Official "Spanish Quarter, Mobile, Alabama Association" Facebook page. It is my goal to get Official City of Mobile, Alabama recognition for the "The Spanish Quarter". The City of Mobile, Alabama has a rich and varied History which is very similar to that of "our cousin" New Orleans, Louisiana. The City of Mobile should capitalize on our rich History for Tourism, to our beautiful City and its Historic Downtown area. The benefit's of an Official "Spanish Quarter" to Dauphin Street and Downtown in general, are too many to list. The goal's of our Association are to get City recognition of "The Spanish Quarter" and to promote Tourism to Downtown Mobile's Businesses and Historic Sites. // There are still descendant's living of Spanish Colonial era settler's to Mobile, Alabama, in Mobile and Mobile County. These include the ESLAVA, ALVAREZ, ESPEJO, CARO, CALDERON, JOSEPH (JOSE), BARIA, PADILLA and YRIGOYEN (now GREGORY) families. There are also many descendant's of French Colonial era settler's (1699-1763) who still live in Mobile and Mobile, County. These include the following families : CHASTANG / CHESTANG, TRENIER, JUZANG / JUZAN, BOSARGE, DEMOUY, COLLINS, LEFLORE, LAURENDINE and many others.
