Detailed description is STAR - Speech Through Articulation Repetition - is a project at the School of Health and Related Research, University of Sheffield, for people with speech articulation difficulties. Welcome to the Facebook page for STAR! This project is about developing a new speech and language therapy tool for people with speech difficulties to use at home on their computers. Evidence suggests that longer and more intensive treatment of speech difficulties leads to improved outcomes. However, speech and language therapists often have only a few sessions with each patient due to limited time and resources. In this project we intend to develop a computer application to support the delivery of therapy. Through this software, which will make use of advanced speech recognition technology, more articulation therapy can be provided. Using a computer to monitor a patient’s speech will enable a therapist to accurately assess their progress, and make decisions about future treatment. . . We would like to involve speech and language therapists and people with speech difficulties in the design and development of the software, to ensure their needs are met.
