My inspiration for The Well-Made Walrus started two years ago when I was laid off from the big box store I had worked at for 6 years due to the fact so much of their business was moving online. . . Being laid off in February in Canada meant many long, cold days of job hunting ahead and the need to find a new hobby to keep from going stir crazy soon arose. For inspiration I went sifting through the many crafts I had saved on Pinterest for when I “had time”. I found a link I had saved to these adorable bunnies (http://makezine.com/2011/04/08/craft_pattern_spring_bunny/) designed by the talented Stephanie over at All About Ami (http://www.allaboutami.com/) and thought “I need to learn how to crochet so I can make these some day”. . . And so, deciding that crochet was the perfect hobby to learn to pass by the cold winter days, I rushed out to buy some yarn and hooks and fell in love with crochet.
