Detailed description is The Women's Giving Circle of Frederick County, founded in 2006, brings women together who share common philanthropic goals to benefit women's needs.
The Women’s Giving Circle strengthens the spirit of women though a cycle of donations and grants.
Members with a vision pledge a minimum of $1,000 a year for three consecutive years We have 4 different levels to acknowledge the cumulative giving.
The money is held at The Community Foundation until the grants are awarded.
Each spring we receive grant requests from many area non-profits.
Everything is reviewed, verified and discussed with great diligence.
Once the committee has finalized its process the members vote on where the funds should go.
We include the community in our grant distribution celebration at our annual tea in May..

In five years we have awarded an amazing $440,000 to organizations that aide women in need.
In 2012 we will be awarding $135,000 in funding.
In 2011 we gave grants to 24 programs within 17 different organizations.
We strive to help empower women to become stronger and self-sufficient in order to improve the quality of their lives and the lives of the people they are responsible for.
We have also established a large endowment fund which will continue to grow for future use.
It is currently over $400,000.
For our first 5 years we have focused on new programs, capital improvements, and emergency funding for organizations that are already have 501C3 status.
It is so rewarding to see how a much needed new program can truly make a difference in someone’s life.
