Detailed description is Things of My Very Own, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that provides crisis intervention services and programs to children in emergency situations, specifically, those who have experienced extensive abuse or neglect. Things of My Very Own, Inc. provides crisis intervention services to children impacted by extensive abuse and/or neglect. Services are also available to children who are, solely due to the lack of items necessary for sustainability, at risk of a Child Protective Services intervention.. Our goal is to keep children together with non-abusive family members, and out of the foster care system, whenever possible.. . We are a referral based program and are currently accepting donations of the following:. . Clothing preemie-Adult 8X-Large (New and gently used). Pajamas (new and gently used). Postage Stamps. Monetary Donations- As a non-profit, we have the ability to purchase greatly needed items at a fraction of the cost, therefore we ask that you consider making a monetary donation to the organization so that we may purchase exactly what we need, when we need it. Monetary donations may be made online at http://thingsofmyveryown.org/donate-today/. . The Crisis Intervention Center is located at 249 Green Street in Schenectady, NY. The donation drop-off door is located in the far left-hand corner of the building. Donations are accepted Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am-noon. If you are unable to drop-off during these times, please contact us for an alternative drop-off location.. . Volunteer opportunities are available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday's from 9am-11am and 10:30am-1pm. Volunteer shifts must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.. .
