My name is Debbi Sawatzky and I would love to tell you about ThreadEthic..... . To say I have always enjoyed fabric is a slight understatement. As an Interior Decorator I found it thrilling how combinations of colour, texture and pattern could bring a room to life. So you can imagine my joy when my mother-in-law loaned me her sewing machine and taught me how to sew. The ability to make something myself, out of the fabrics I loved, brought a whole new level of joy into my life.. . There is however, a less joyful side of the textile industry that has led me to create ThreadEthic. It is no secret that around the world men, women and children are forced into terrible working conditions. They make many of the products we use on a daily basis, including cotton. The pains of our world run deep and can feel overwhelming, but I believe that there is always hope. So after months of research (and a few tears) I am incredibly excited to share my little slice of hope with you.. . All of my products are made with 100% Organic Cotton and milled in ethical, healthy, working conditions in select countries. The printed fabrics I use have either a GOTS or OEKO-TEX 100 certification. This means that the fabric is made in a sustainable & socially responsible manner from seed to final product.
