I find that taking that first step and searching for a therapist can be scary and intimidating. It’s difficult to open up to someone who you feel that you know very little about. I would describe myself as eclectic with a love for music (especially Rock) and animals (cats). I am family oriented and enjoy reading and baking in my free time. I am a no-nonsense therapist who utilizes humor and wit, but will provide honest and sometimes a little confrontational feedback.. . In my professional and personal life, I believe that wellness as well as change work are based on the relationship that you have with yourself and the relationship you have with your environment. Everyone is capable of change and I can help by establishing a welcoming and nonjudgmental relationship in which you feel comfortable expressing feelings and ideas.. . My aim is to guide individuals in the direction of acceptance and love of self regardless of the “norms” that society has placed upon them. Many of the individuals I have worked with have struggled with symptoms of Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, and Addictions. Rather than focusing on “labels” or “diagnoses” that may have been given to you in the past, I focus on the symptoms that are currently causing the most stress in your life and the roots of those symptoms to prevent them from returning in the future. I do this by meeting the individual where they are at, thinking “outside the box,” and using a variety of therapies and techniques including but not limited to, Cognitive-Behavioral techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure Therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy.
