Detailed description is A firearms course from the very basic to advanced training in self-defense with a firearm. Instruction in Defensive Shooting, Iowa Permit, Home Defense NRA Basic Pistol Course; The NRA Basic Pistol Course is for any shooter from beginner to a well established shooter. All classes of shooters can benefit from the course. The course covers the fundamentals of shooting a pistol or revolver safely and accurately. Some of the areas of instruction include; pistol and revolver nomenclature, ammunition, firearm safety rules, shooting positions, and range time including NRA Marksmanship ratings for those who qualify. This course follows the NRA lesson plan. Course length is 8hrs. Pistol Marksmanship Course; The Pistol Marksmanship Course is designed for the beginner or intermediate shooter who wishes to improve his/her marksmanship and it reinforces good shooting fundamentals. The course will identify problem areas and provide the student solutions making him/her more accurate and fundamentally sound making them better prepared for stressful situations. The emphasis of this course is safety and accuracy through skill development and skill drills.. This course provides 4hrs of one on one instruction. Advanced Handgun Skills Level 1 Course; The Advanced Handgun Skills Course is dedicated to the person who is interested in self-defense with a firearm. This is not a competition based course. This course provides 8hrs of intense handgun training. Areas of instruction to include; Safe shooting fundamentals will be reinforced, detailed malfunction drills and stoppages, accuracy, target acquisition, shooting on the move, concealment/cover, and multiple complex live fire drills, intuitive and sighted fire, and unorthodox shooting positions. Targets will be paper, reactionary, and three dimensional. Shoot no shoot scenarios. Optional night shoot and skill development. This course is meant to assist the student in assessing their personal capabilities, enhance defensive shooting skills, and provide him/her the tools to improve their skills after the course completion through personal practice. You don’t have to be a master gun handler to take this course. Basic gun handling skills and knowledge of firearm safety are a must. This is an 8 hour course. Advanced Handgun Skills Level 2 Course; This course picks up where level 1 left off. The Advanced Handgun Skills Level 1 is a prerequisite for this course. The drills become more complex with more attention given to detail and context to test the skills that have been developed in earlier courses. As the day progresses so does the skill level. The afternoon portion of this course is dedicated to scenarios and putting some context with the skills that have been developed. Scenarios include room clearing and home invasion. Contact shooting and dynamic movement. Lots of discussion on several levels. Throughout the day. This is an 8 hour course. Accommodations will be made to ensure the student gets all they Can out of the course. You don’t need to be an athlete. We take into account physical limitations. NRA Basic Pistol and Advanced Handgun Skills level 1&2 Courses will have dates set or you may make appointments for one on one in both Level 1&2.
