Melting icebergs, ecosystems at risk, and pollution of our fresh water – these are all too common themes in daily headlines. With a growing list of environmental concerns facing our world, now more than ever we need innovative thinkers, researchers and scientists who are focused on putting knowledge into action. With this goal in mind, Trent University has united our outstanding environmental programs under one umbrella – the new Trent School of the Environment. . . The school will enhance opportunities for the entire community to come together to discuss solutions to environmental challenges, and offer teachers and researchers at Trent the opportunity to connect with colleagues in related fields, building important new collaborative research projects.. . The Trent School of the Environment offers twelve degree programs, including B.A., B.Sc., and B.E.S.S. undergraduate degrees in Environmental and Resource Science and Studies, B.A. and B.Sc. degrees in Geography, and joint degrees in Environmental Chemistry, Water Sciences, Ecological Restoration, Indigenous Environmental Science and Studies, and B.A. and B.Sc. degrees in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems.. . As an institution set on the banks of the Otonabee and surrounded by 580 hectares of land, it’s only natural that Trent has attracted over 65 faculty whose research and expertise are relevant to the environmental issues facing Canada and the world. Trent’s vibrant campus and its breathtaking natural setting is the perfect location to train the next generation of environmental professionals.
