Detailed description is The UFGI is a biomedical research center and doctoral program that promotes multidisciplinary research in genetics and genomics. The University of Florida Genetics Institute is a biomedical research center that promotes collaborative and multidisciplinary research utilizing the tools of genetics and genomics. The UFGI includes 246 faculty members representing 7 different colleges and 51 different academic departments at the University of Florida. Their research includes human genetics, bioinformatics, agricultural and plant biology, bioinformatics and evolutionary biology.. . Current director is Patrick Concannon, PhD.. . The Genetics & Genomics Graduate Program– directed and supported by the UF Genetics Institute– was initiated in 2007. The Graduate Program provides interdisciplinary doctorate level training for students with an emphasis on computation approaches. Students have the opportunity to train in any UFGI member’s laboratory, regardless of the college or departmental affiliation of the faculty member.
