Detailed description is The UF IFAS Range Cattle REC is concentrated on the enhancement of the livestock, forages, and natural resources associated with Florida's grazing lands. The focus of the UF IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center is concentrated on the enhancement of the livestock, forages, and natural resources associated with Florida’s grazing lands. Located in South Central Florida, the Center reside adjacent to nearly 80 percent of Florida’s one million beef cows. Through decades of cooperative endeavors, this ideal proximity has allowed RCREC researchers to develop close relationships with Florida cattlemen, earning it the nickname, “The Cattlemen’s Research Center.” In this unique location, the Center is fortunate to engage in collaborative research efforts with the surrounding cattlemen in addition to have its own unique field laboratory with 700 head of cattle and 2,840 acres of native lands and improved pastures. . Founded in 1941, through the efforts of legislators, cattlemen, and citizens, the Range Cattle REC is the only University-owned subtropical research Center of its kind in the United States.. .
