The Universal Worship service is the fulfillment of an ideal put forth by Hazrat Inayat Khan in 1921 to bring together the world’s religions on one altar. Offered at the Abode of the Message in New Lebanon, New York as a function of the Sufi Order International, the service is designed to promote understanding, acceptance, and spiritual awakening for all of humanity. This simple candle lighting service incorporates the wisdom of all religious traditions based on the realization that there is one divine reality. It is the revelations of that one reality expressed through various times and places that have resulted in various religions.
