Detailed description is What is the Early Learning Project?. . The first five years of a child's life are characterised by a remarkable degree of physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. At no other time are age related changes so dramatic or so rapid. . The primary goal of the Early Learning project is to understand changes in learning and memory that occur during infancy and childhood. We invite you and your children to help us to understand this exciting period of development and have a lot of fun along the way! . . When can my child participate?. . We welcome children between the ages of three months and five years to participate in our projects.. . How much time is required?. . We understand that families with children are extremely busy. Each visit with your child takes approximately 15 minutes and is scheduled at a time of day that is convenient to you.. . What will my child be asked to do?. . Because many of the children that we work with are too young to "tell" us what they learn and remember; we have designed a series of simple games that allow even the youngest children to "show" us what they know. Based on our past experience, infants and children find these games extremely enjoyable. . . Will I get to see the results?. . When the study is completed, parents will receive a report of the results. As a small token of our appreciation, each child will receive a small gift from the University of Otago.
