Detailed description is The UTRGV Texas Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP) is an engaging hands on academically intense, mathematics-based enrichment program. The Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program (TexPREP) provides a challenging academic program designed to motivate and prepare middle and high school students for success in advanced studies leading to careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). TexPREP includes a seven-week summer program and additional enrichment activities throughout the academic year. The program offers a highly structured curriculum and fosters higher order thinking skills and innovation. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and with professionals in the fields of STEM, while experiencing a university environment and culture. The program is accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and students earn one-unit elective credit for every year they successfully complete in the program.
