Detailed description is SCPS's mission is to be responsive to nontraditional learners by providing high quality education opportunities that help them achieve their goals. The UVa School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is one of 11 schools and colleges at the University of Virginia. We are committed to serving a diverse community of learners at convenient times and places. We do this through six academic centers located in Abingdon, Charlottesville, Falls Church, Newport News, Richmond, and Roanoke. We also deliver programs and courses using distance learning technologies. . . The School offers the bachelor of interdisciplinary studies, a part-time undergraduate degree program for working adults. Students enter as third-year students, and complete their courses on-Grounds in Charlottesville, in Richmond, or on the campuses of Northern Virginia and Tidewater community colleges.. . We offer a portfolio of credit and noncredit certificate programs ranging from accounting, human resources management, eMarketing, procurement and contracts management, public relations, project management, leadership, premedical, and more.. . And finally, we work with businesses and organizations; federal, state, and local government agencies; and K12 school divisions, to deliver customized courses and programs. In fact, our School has a long-standing partnership with the FBI to deliver its National Academy to law enforcement officials. . . Annually we serve almost 9,000 nontraditional adult learners, of which 70 percent of Virginia residents.
