Detailed description is Victor Emanuel Lodge, OSIA # 1646 The Victor Emanuel Lodge was established on October 8th, 1891, and incorporated on December 10th, 1891 at the same time that their charter was given. The founding members were Luigi Carbone, Nicola Oneto, Filipo Araldo, Stefano Gardella, Carlo Bassani, Angelo Bassani, Giulio Valla, Fortunato Oneto, and Giovanni B. Parodi, the actual founder of the organization.. . The four-story building is the meeting place of not only the Lodge membership to conduct business, but also for the SOI Drum and Bugle Corp, founded in 1938, which marches in many parades throughout New England.. . Between 1918 and 1926, the Victor Emanuel Lodge # 1041 became affiliated with the Order Sons of Italy in America, under the sponsorship of the Italia Supreme Lodge of Lawrence on Sunday December 18th, 1932. The first venerable installed was Federico Magliani, who was installed by Grand Venerable Vincent Brogna.. . From 1918 until 1933, the independent Vita Nova Women's Lodge continued with the first President Sofia Medaglia. The Vita Nova Lodge dissolved its charter in 1934. Att that time, 175 women were initiated into the Victor Emanuel Lodge # 1646, making this one of the largest mixed lodges in Massachusetts.. . In 1957, The Victor Emanuel Block on River Street was sold and the organization moved to 2ll Wasington St. After a brief stay of six years, 124 Washington Street became the new home.. . In 1985, the Sons of Italy Drum and Bugle Corps was reactivated.. . William Brigham, who served as Venerable of the Lodge from 1961-1963 and again in 1964, was the First Officer in the history of the Lodge to serve five consecutive terms (1985-1990).. .
