Detailed description is A place for learning and developing the fundamental skills of Vintage Social Swing Dancing. This page supports the operation of the Vintage Swing Dance Incubator, a place where new, or relatively new, swing dancers (who are seriously committed) can learn the fundamental details of proper swing dance technique.. . The target audience for this instruction includes those brand new to Swing Dancing AND those who have been dancing for awhile under instruction limited to large group lessons with little or no personal/private direction. Large group lessons (out of necessity) tend to emphasize the memorization of choreographed moves with little attention paid to proper dance technique, the physics that drive swing dancing, and the fundamentals of how swing dancing "really" works.. . If you are not familiar with or do not have a full understanding of the concepts of dance Frame, Connection, Range of Motion, the Transfer of Momentum & Energy, and the Physics of Swing Dancing that allows a Lead and Follow to move together in a smooth and fluid like manner, you will likely benefit from these classes.. . Two tracks of progressive classes (6 & 8 Count Swing) will be offered, Class participation is limited to 12 students. A class will consist of six, two hour sessions of instruction.. . The Six Count class is ideal for brand new dancers and those described in the paragraph above.. . If you feel you have a good grasp of Six Count Swing and want to advance, you may attend the Eight Count Sessions.. . However, BOTH CLASSES will begin with a concentration on the fundamentals of body movement, both individually and as a couple, tension & compression, range of motion, frame & connection, momentum & energy, and the physics that drive swing dancing. The remaining five sessions (in both classes) will be based on this physics based approach.. . Both classes focus on the crucial FUNDAMENTALS of partner dancing. Neither are Intermediate or Advanced level classes, though some will argue that the incorporation of physics into dance instruction qualifies as Intermediate level instruction.
