Il regroupe des plateaux techniques cinématographiques et un grand nombre de bâtiments aux usages variés. Il comprend plusieurs œuvres architecturales hébergeant les bureaux ou les studios d'animation comme l’ABC Building d'Aldo Rossi, le Team Disney Building de Michael Graves et le Feature Animation Building de Robert A. M. Stern.Construits à partir de la fin des années 1930 comme un campus universitaire, les studios ont été inaugurés en 1941.
