Detailed description is WE CAN empowers Cape Cod women, offering life changing, unique services that inspire hope, bring increased opportunity, self-sufficiency. All are welcome. Through the help of a 16 member board, a growing team of community partners, over 200 dedicated volunteers, and a small staff of four part-time and three full-time persons, WE CAN empowers Cape Cod women of all ages undergoing challenging life transitions by providing services that bring increased opportunity, self-sufficiency, stability, and lasting positive change. WE CAN furthers women’s development through:. • Information and Referral: Rather than duplicate services, WE CAN provides information about and referrals to a broad range of other Cape organizations with the relevant expertise and services.. • Mentoring: PathMakers, WE CAN’s signature program, offers mentoring for women with a focus on setting and achieving goals and mutual learning and support over a 10 month period. Through 1:1 mentoring WE CAN also provides Financial Empowerment sessions with bankers and financial advisors as well as support regarding career exploration and work search.. • Free Legal Services: Through the generosity of more than 25 Cape attorneys who donate their time, WE CAN offers low to moderate income women individual 30 minute consultations on the legal issues involved in divorce; child custody and support; wills and estate planning; landlord-tenant problems; debt and consumer issues; immigration; employment and other concerns. Legal workshops, such as “Everything You Want to Know About Family Law but Were Afraid to Ask,” and a day-long “Divorce Boot Camp,” also provide women with broader information on family law issues.. • Workshops, seminars and support groups: As needs are expressed to us through the women in our programs and our referral lines, we respond with workshops, tailored training sessions and support groups. In addition to a divorce support group, we offer computer training on a regular basis as well as other skill-based sessions including financial management; career planning; conflict resolution; and negotiation skills.
