Detailed description is WCC College Readiness Division The College Readiness Division offers classes for:. . • Adult High School diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), Adult Basic Education, and College Transitioning classes. Adults aged 18 and over are accepted into the program, and minors aged 16-18 may be accepted after eligibility is established. Classes are offered in Ashe and Alleghany counties and at several locations around Wilkes for convenience. Online classes are offered as an alternative or in addition to in-class study.. . • In a self-paced, individualized lab setting, or online, students can earn the 20 credits required for a high school diploma, study for the HSE, or brush up on their skills before entering curriculum or Continuing Education programs. . . • Adult Basic Education instruction is designed for adults who need to improve their reading, writing, speaking, problem solving, or computation skills necessary to function effectively in society, on a job, or in their family. . . • A transitioning lab is also offered when students are nearing completion. In this class, students can acquire a range of skills from higher education preparedness to workplace transition readiness.
