We moved from the chaos of Durham to my husband's quiet homestead out in the country where we plan to polish our 8 children. 7 of our children spent much of their lives attached to electronics like TV's, computers and video games. We wanted more for them so when we moved, we began our new journey by not subscribing to cable. We want our children to experience life to the fullest, we want them to use their imaginations, we want them to appreciate hard work, and most importantly we want them to appreciate and love all the precious gifts God has to offer them.. . Grand-Daddy built us a chicken coop with the help of a neighbor. We purchased pullets and began teaching these very excited children about chicken farming. We have a variety of eggs all different sizes and colors, including blue eggs, white eggs, and brown eggs.. . It is wonderful to be able to go into your backyard and collect eggs from your own chickens. It feels good to know that we are feeding our children the best.. . Currently each child has their own chicken and what began as an experience to learn how to look after their very own chicken quickly turned into running out of room in our refrigerator. Collecting almost a dozen eggs per day doesn't seem like much but it adds up quickly. Grand-momma and Grand-daddy began buying the eggs from the children. In addition to learning how to care for their chickens came a lesson in earning and saving money. Each child has their own account where their money goes for the dozens of eggs they sell.. . 8 children is expensive to look after, so I look for ways to save such as clipping coupons, buying second hand, making handmade gifts and baking. We are always looking for new ways to save which brings us back to our chickens.. . We need to know if you have interest in purchasing local farm fresh, cage free, hormone free eggs from us.
