Detailed description is The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is administered by the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education. The sole purpose of HEP is to assist migrant and seasonal farmworkers and members of their immediate family to obtain a General Educational Development (GED) diploma that meets the guidelines for high school equivalency.. After completion of the GED, HEP helps participants with placement options for improved employment, vocational training, military service, or admittance into an institution of higher education (IHE) or other post-secondary education.. The HEP program at WSU is unique from many throughout the United States in that eligible participants may choose to live on campus in residence halls with assistance from the HEP grant while earning their High School Equivalency Degree. Participants who decide to commute will also be offered a stipend to help cover travel expenses.. HEP Application Checklist. Complete an Application for Admission (incomplete applications will not be considered). Copy of migrant OR seasonal documentation. Age waiver (Only if you are 16-18 years old.) . Copy of Marriage License or Birth Certificate (only if qualifying under immediate family member). Schedule an eligibility exam. Test scores (checked by staff). Provide proof of immunization. You’ll need to provide proof of measles(Rubeola) immunity before starting HEP. Forms and other information are available from WSU Health and Wellness Services. If you do not have immunization records, you are responsible for getting the requested immunization prior to coming to campus.. Most recent high school transcript (Optional). TABE scores (Optional)
