Detailed description is The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is administered by the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education. The sole purpose of HEP is to assist migrant and seasonal farmworkers and members of their immediate family to obtain a General Educational Development (GED) diploma that meets the guidelines for high school equivalency.. After completion of the GED, HEP helps participants with placement options for improved employment, vocational training, military service, or admittance into an institution of higher education (IHE) or other post-secondary education.. The HEP program at WSU is unique from many throughout the United States in that eligible participants may choose to live on campus in residence halls with assistance from the HEP grant while earning their High School Equivalency Degree.
