KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Franklin County overnight.
It happened just after midnight Saturday on I-35, about two and a half miles east of Ottawa.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Samuel Caldwell of Overland Park and 19-year old Kaitlen Riley of Concordia, both died when their vehicles collided head-on.
Authorities say Caldwell was driving his vehicle the wrong way on I-35. It is not known if he was wearing a seatbelt. Riley was wearing a seatbelt.
