Buntings aren’t the world’s most glamorous birds. In fact, they fall into an unfortunate category that birders refer to as LBJ: the little brown job. They’re small, and yes, mostly brown – though Cirl Buntings have bright yellow faces. But their looks, coupled with the fact that they tend to live off the beaten track, mean they’ve often been overlooked.
