Protests ramp up again across the u. S. President trump urges state governors to get tougher and call up more National Guard. Chilling passes a 100000. 00 coronavirus cases while peruvian ports a new daily record despite months of lockdown plus. Im going hey new zealand we will tell you why corona virus may change the way our cities are designed. The brother of a black man who died in Police Custody a week ago has called for calm after his death sparked days of protests and riots across the United States demonstrators are demanding an end to Police Brutality towards black americans flowers and posters now cover the ground for george floyd was forced to lie for almost 9 minutes gasping for breath while a Police Officer knelt on his neck. Are cut out. 2 there are you. Probably. Not brought them over here from here. And i support them or haul you know. Out of province. Cant be referred. To how you go no no no no. No no no i want her to be dont want to. I dont know if youre in a paper or whatever they want to work. Floyds family says an independent autopsy a Commission Says he died of a from sustained pressure on his back and neck preliminary findings from an official report found that Underlying Health issues contributed to his that the evidence is consistent with mechanical is fixed as the cause of death and homicide as the manner of death 2nd autopsies in certain cases can be very important to confirm and or dispute the original diagnosis to answer those Unanswered Questions to collect and document evidence. And most importantly to determine the cause and the manner of death. Well john hendren ins live for us in minneapolis so joe and we have that also see the results for least the the one the independent one commissioned by the family how does that square with what we have been hearing from prosecutors and others. But barbara it sets up a situation of dueling autopsies what we have this autopsy from the family we dont have an entire autopsy from the Hennepin County coroner but what we do have is some wording in the prosecutors charges that said george floyd did not die of his fixation that he died of a combination of things yes the Police Officers pressing on him were part of that but it also said he had hypertension and coronary Artery Disease so this really directly contradicts that this independent autopsy says that it is clear that it was asphyxiation those doctors the 2 doctors who performed that said george floyd had no Underlying Health conditions and they said that it was clear from the video that the officers being on his back and on his meth neck and directly caused his death and they know that in the ambulance george floyd did not have a pulse so we didnt die later in the ambulance he died on the scene he was declared dead at the hospital because that is how that happens you you wait for a doctor to do that in on an e. M. T. But the point is he was dead on this scene this is going to be played out in court these 2 competing on top so yes but certainly the family is going to press this one and they say if this makes it clear this was a homicide and that a 2nd autopsy the independent one also says that the officers who were on George Floyds back contributed to his death it wasnt just derek shoes on with his knee on his neck that. Autopsy says all of them contributed to the fatality. And john a few hours before that announcement was made about the autopsy result we heard from George Floyds brother terence he spoke all in the small boy george was killed asking people to stop the violence to keep on protesting but to stop the violence to get a sense that protesters are going to take his advice. In a word no. There are 2 Different Groups if there are many Different Groups of protesters but the ones here who come to the george floyd memorial and you can see that mural behind me these are Peaceful Protesters and there are thousands of them and i would say most of the protesters are very peaceful theyve come here to make a point they are angry about what happened to george floyd and they want all 4 of those officers arrested and charged with murder but the group that comes out at night those are often a Different Group of people more hardcore. In some of them we have seen lighting fires looting buildings whether they were demonstrators or not and they have come out every night to defy the police and it has only been the last 2 nights with this extra 1000 National Guard troops that have been called in for a total of 1700. 00 National Guard troops freeing up the police whove been very aggressive with rubber bullets and tear gas its only been in the past couple of days that police have really shut down those protesters because for the previous 4 nights they only the night police could not even get fire trucks in to put out the fires in burning buildings john hendren with the latest from minneapolis john thank you. Terence floyds appeal came after a civil unrest flared across the u. S. For a 6th night peaceful protests this and that into more rioting protesters ignored curfews in dozens of cities from washington d. C. To los angeles so. The small birds cars were set alight and shops were looted despite National Guard troops being deployed in at least 15 states tear gas stun grenades and rubber bullets were used to try to disperse the crowds. Well the u. S. President has reportedly urged state governors to take a tougher stance against protesters saying that they looked weak in their response u. S. Media reporting that donald trump told governors to dominate during a phone call on monday and makes sweeping arrests the White House Press secretary meanwhile says he also encourage them to call up more of the National Guard a White House Correspondent carefully halkett joins us live now on that phone call so it seemed like quite a tense of phone call to say the least with him having strong words for the governors and some of them actually pushing back. Absolutely that reportedly the president was agitated he was angry and at times came into direct conflict with some of the democratic governors who were on the call specifically the state of illinois and also michigan now we should point out that he has clashed with the democratic governor from michigan Gretchen Whitmer in the past and they did so again it was multiple times the president was accused of inflammatory comments that are making the situation worse this is criticism that donald trump pushed back on when he said that famous statement that we have been talking about the last few hours that in fact the for the governors are looking weak and that they must dominate the population and the rest thats on the streets that is when question whitmer the democratic governor in fact clashed with the president saying that essentially he is viciously attacking the governors who are doing everything they can to keep the peace on the streets while there was a White House Press briefing in the last couple of hours the White House Press secretary kelly mcenaney in fact saying that it is up to the governors to quote do their job they have the police power they have the ability of police the streets and they have failed to do their jobs now i should tell you that the streets here in washington continue to be particularly tense i dont know if you can hear the sound that is sort of rumbling behind me but in fact there are very heavy my photographer is telling me that there is military equipment that is on the white house campus this is a little bit of a surprise but certainly we got a bit of an indication perhaps that this could be coming in addition we know the National Guard has already been called for the d. C. Streets but the u. S. President intimated in this call with the governors and also in the press briefing earlier that in fact. This is just not enough that there needs to be an overwhelming presence even if its the police that have the authority there needs to be this deterrent factor and robber have a good shot and tell me what those type of vehicles are. But there is a convoy of them that are right now on the way. There are what kind of carols troop carriers filled with soldiers that are on the white house campus right now so were getting this in real time its going to require some clarification whats happening but i can tell you that there they are now parading down pennsylvania avenue this is quite a sight to see i dont know if we can get a live shot of it it probably is difficult but this is in addition to the very heavy riot police that are already in Lafayette Square in front of the white house so right now we have soldiers that are in very heavy machinery going down pennsylvania avenue i dont know what more to tell you except this is consistent with the desires of the u. S. President that he wants to see the sun dress quelled on the streets perhaps my colleagues shepparton see who is out of the park might be able to leverage a little bit more of what he see absolutely were about to cross into thank you so much for that kimberly well lets go live now to she had britain see because of course as we can see now there are protests currently taking place outside of the white house associate i dont know how much you could hear of all kimberly was saying she mentioned troop carriers filled with soldiers on pennsylvania avenue what can you see from where you walk. Or i could see as hundreds of protesters are then there is a a lot of riot police in front of them were at the edge of Lafayette Park they would have moved forward once these days this line of troops and theyve moved us back to this position which is on. Its way to further away from the white house and than we were before thats report from kimberly as it was very concerning that the curfew begins here in about 2 hours time. There is that concern that there will be some sort of show of force 7 oclock local because donald trump keeps on demanding one so whether hes developing. His own back yard well have to see in the next couple of hours but there is a curfew at 7 oclock and that of course then gives the police the suppose that the legal cover to start rounding us all up around the at least right around the hole the protest is up in the rather violent way that theyve been doing over the last few days they just advance suddenly without warning for a bunch of pepper gas and grades and stun grenades and so on and then just knock at the wall whos in their way basically saying thats to come in 2 hours time i would assume but well have to see but here several 100 protesters outside the white house chanting. Obviously all peaceful but all resolute in that theyre not going to let this go i mean just the latest news we heard from john about the independent autopsy once again that official narrative has been has holes punctured in it once again if you dont the thinking is if you dont do something you could make people aware of the of how angry people all the mood is going to change in syria just more reason for people to be out right now as a result of that news from minneapolis and which is going to keep an eye on things i think you could just just over the top of the protest as you might just be able to see the white house and the Washington Monument that might give you a sense of distance from the white house right now. We do know that in the post on friday night for example told from specter and i will say in the in the in the underground bunker but things are right now peaceful resolute im very and but the police so far are behaving themselves and that is she have been other protests across the country weve seen people in many ways that wrecked their anger at what they see as Police Brutality and the unfair treatment of africanamericans but the people there im guessing are holding the president himself partly responsible for the situation what are their grievances against the trunk and south. Well i mean theres always a sense of the old name. Moves the police you know a lot. Of these began some criminal Justice Reform didnt go near enough for many optimists but all of the all of the measures that obama put in place for oversight of local Police Forces were pretty much dismantled by donald trump at least immediately and Jeff Sessions attorney general them say there is a sense that the police feel that they can begin to think that they wont and actually i think the video bears that out since the since the protester vigils floyds killing of the game there is that sense defeated and protected by lou. In many cases so its a dual track well i think you can you can probably guess that the ad ahead of him is this because well hes seen as an enabler for right wing fascism basically for a lot of activists and this is all not just about one man but this is about a system having set up there. I mean clearly this isnt this isnt start with donald trump this is about all of us president s really broker boehner included for that matter this is a systemic problem that a School Lesson weve tried not faces in high places not didnt work either so this is necessary but President Trump per se but he certainly has the leader of the country right now so you can feel done because hes a very polarizing figures of course as about a great deal of anger directed at him as well. Well she had as you said there is meant to be a curfew in place in about 2 hours will be interesting to see how the situation develops there just outside and within the white house as well for the moment though shepherd county outside the white house thank you. And now lets go to new york city crystal salumi joins us live now from times square and kristen we just heard that new york mayor has declared an 11 pm city curfew i made the protests that tell us a little bit about whats going on in the city right now. Well weve seen widespread demonstrations for the last 5 days throughout the city largely peaceful but at the end of the day sometimes turning violent last night there was looting in Lower Manhattan 2 nights ago some mala top cocktails were thrown at Police Vehicles and with all of that as a backdrop the mayor and the governor decided to impose this curfew from 11 pm till 5 am citing the destruction of property that had been encouraging in an effort to prevent that from continuing as well as the violence they did announce that i was here in times square with hundreds of demonstrators when the word came down just a couple hours ago there this area was filled with people invoking the name of george floyd and calling for reforms to police saying they promise to keep continue protesting so its going to be interesting to see what happens after 11 pm there are 7 different separate protest events planned in the city tonight this is been a very widespread movement very wide ranging Different Groups very grassroots the governor said that he stands behind the protesters and the mare as well said that he. Didnt want violence to undermine their message that this could be a time of change but violence could detracts from the positive change swift action against officers. Who up who dont uphold the values of the city is Something Else that he talked about he said that he had seen videos of conduct from Police Officers in recent days that he was concerned about in the promised a swift investigation but again the message from the mayor and the governor that new yorkers should stay home i should also point out that the covert lockdown is still in place here in new york city except for a sense. The workers people are supposed to be staying at home and Wearing Masks he said not only do these demonstrations have the potential of undermining. Systemic change undermining attempts to bring systemic change to policing into the country they could undermine efforts to control the penn damage that have been taking place here in new york so. A very. Lot of have things happening very quickly here in new york as elsewhere around the country the protests here has moved on downtown theyre marching through the streets promising to continue those efforts with the threat. A lockdown tonight from police if they continue to try to arrest if they continue these demonstrations past that curfew christine salumi with the latest from the new york city kristen thank you well lets hear from the mayor of new york city himself he says immediate action should be taken against Police Officers who are heavy handed with protesters. Any situation where an officer does something even in the context of a protest in a tense situation they do something offensive inappropriate there must be immediate investigation the must be the appropriate penalty and that penalty here include all the way up to being removed from the police force theres a video going around of a Police Officer in the middle of a situation a middle east looked chaotic but where protesters were in front of that Police Officer a Police Officer drew his gun at some point yesterday. Back to me seen the video was actually unacceptable. Well in some cities Police Officers have joined as those protesting officers in california knelt during a rally the pose was made famous by the american Football Player calling it compare nick in response to Police Brutality against black people in other States Police held banners with statements against violence and racism and the sheriff in michigan told protesters we are with you before he and other officers joined the march well coming up on this news hour past and possibly future president s weigh in on the anger across america plus a tragedy in the democratic republic of congo where 4 people have died in a new Ebola Outbreak. Before us president barack obama has offered advice on how to change American Society following the death of george floyd an open letter he wrote the choice isnt between protest and politics we have to do both we have to mobilize to raise awareness and we have to organize and cast our ballots to make sure that we elect candidates who will act on reform if the anger could be effectively channeled obama said it could be a real turning point in the nations long journey to live up to our highest ideals. And democrats president ial candidate joe biden has vowed to address what he described as institutional racism if elected in November Biden has been meeting with black Community Leaders at a church in delaware its the 2nd day in a row that biden has left home to address the growing unrest and only the 3rd time hes been seen publicly since the coronavirus lockdowns began in march hes also held a Virtual Meeting with the mayors of cities badly affected by the violence. Margaret burnham is a professor of law and the director of the civil rights and rest for to Justice Project at Northeastern University she joins us by skype from boston madame thank you so much for joining us here on aljazeera do you agree with the words by barack obama saying that it could be a real turning point. That these protests could actually have channeled in the right way be a turning point in the way that the u. S. Lives up to their ideals. Thank you very much grabber and thank you for having me im certainly agreeing with president obama that this could be a turning point where i would differ for from him though is the nature of the turn that has to be made the kind of pivots that have to be made in order to ensure non repetition of the kind of Police Behavior in the Police Killings and murders that weve recently seen in the United States president paul obama talked about reform weve tried reform weve tried to reform the Police Department weve tried to rein in the Police Department to hold the Police Accountable and those measures plus for have not worked we need a true transition in the United States we need a true pivot a true correction. A True Movement to a different reality for all u. S. Citizens and particularly for those of us who are africanamerican and that requires a very very deep fundamental change not just reform but when you talk about that change is that a cultural change or do you think that there should be laws i mean you mentioned that the police is still not being held accountable in the way that it should be so are we talking cultural change legal change perhaps trying to rein in the police or a bit of both. Well cultural you know coke culture follows the law as much as law is connected to culture but this is beyond culture this is about an economic and political systems that has is the bankruptcy of which is left africanamericans without a voice and now threatens their very lives and we see that not just in the pandemic around coded 19 but we see it also in the pen demick of Police Violence that has reared its head and made itself so obvious in the in these horrific videos that have been spread to millions around the world so thats what this is about more than culture this is about more than the culture of racism this is about institutions the institutional of the institutional change thats necessary if were ever to remove ourselves sufficiently of from from the legacy of slavery in this country thats the kind of change that is required and the people who are in the streets those young people who are in the streets question whether ordinary politics going back to the normal ordinary politics in this country can actually get us to where we have to be and thats the persistence thats one of those demonstrations are so persistent and can and will continue to persist im so and so our leadership provides another question a lot of people would argue that that weve seen in the United States for almost the past 4 years this is not seen ordinary politics that theres a man in the white house who is particularly divisive and we can see the protests outside the white house right now the think that perhaps his presence might itself give momentum to to this change youre talking about. Barbara. Boxer absolutely we have in the white house man who has endorsed by a lengthy skid said about the democrats the only down good democrat is a dead democrat hes talked about punching protesters when we had the man massacre in charlottesville he said they will be a good size on good people on both sides he says that hes endorsed statements that immigrants should be shot this is a this is a man who is is deeply aligned with the vigil on think quayle and few quests clan tradition in the United States both with respect to his reliance on not just who we harness but also extra legal violence as well as on his his his famous infamous racist attitudes towards black and brown people of the United States so so yes has that deep in the sense of alienation the sense of distrust the sense of hopelessness in all of our communities absolutely it has Margaret Burnham professor of law and director of the civil rights and restaurants of Justice Project at Northeastern University madame thank you so much for sharing your thank you so much thank you barbara for having me. Corona virus infections are rapidly increasing across latin america the region has now surpassed 1000000 cases she reported its biggest single day increase on monday the country has more than 100000 infections and at least 1054 people have died chiles Health Minister is warning the countrys peak is yet to come and peruse has also reported a large rise in new cases with almost 9000 that it was one of the 1st latin american nations to enforce restrictions authorities there say citizens have not been following the rules for the syrian human is live for us in chinas capital santiago so lets begin with 2 there though its obvious that really latin america now seems to be the coronavirus hot spot of the world so talk us through the latest developments in chile how worrying is. Its a very distressing situation theres no doubt about it there were 59 more people the highest number that died in just one day here over a 1000 deaths over the 100000 infections as you just mentioned the worse is that the Health Minister says that these numbers are going to continue to increase because not only is the peak far away but people are not a bang you says the to the left they. Clearly many people cannot do that for many reasons 1st of all because they need to work also many people live in. Living quarters especially in the poorer areas as many as 8 People Living in lets say in a 30 square meter or 40 square meter dwelling and so you cannot isolate then the people who are infected from those who arent and that is helping to spread the disease even further i was speaking to the matter of life being found thats a very Poor Community here on the outskirts of santiago and she said that she believes that at least half. Of the people the residents of that very Large Community are already infected so clearly the governments strategy until now to try to stop this has not worked and for the Health Minister admitted and this is a rather. Alarming admission indeed he said that the strategy that he had been following the model of the pandemic volatiles that have been the being that were being employed introduced in january have collapsed he said like a deck of cards that is worrying indeed and lucy do you think that that failure i guess of people self isolating is being mirrored in what were seeing in peru a country that implemented restrictions well as one of the 1st ones in latin america but is still seeing the rise of infections and their authorities saying it is because people arent following the rules years. Whether that is the reason or not i cannot i cannot tell you but they clearly cannot because theyre more than 70 percent of the peruvian population a live stage at least lives in the from the informal send sector of those hand to mouth we have to go out and sell on the street and after being put into lockdown for so long they say they can or they can no longer afford to stay at home just as the pandemic is getting worse rather than better so that its a perfect storm in the case of rule where there are more than 4500 confirmed deaths so far and the same thing is happening in neighboring ecuador this is the country where we saw at the beginning a tremendous amount of chaos because of the pandemic and it seemed to be to sort of be better but now its moving over to the capital and we were hearing that there could have been as many as 5 and a half 1000 deaths because of the way they were counting or better said the way they were not counting or before testing to see if the people who have died. He told me that if it were many of these still growing that would be the highest per capita death rate in all of my. Eyes going to see a new man with the latest there from both cheney and the cia thank you. Well lets go back now to the us outside the white house we can speak to she have breath can see we spoke to you a little bit earlier there was some military and movement on the white house lawn in pennsylvania avenue whats the situation like there now where its much as you left us in the you know were all several 100 people multiracial protesters who have a juice up here theres a line of officers in full combat over there and they did just know sort of provoke the protests is the only word i can use every now and then they just sort of move forward even though no ones doing anything illegal or questionable that theyre standing here protest and then suddenly move forward all the protesters all age basically and its very disconcerting and i want to a plume of smoke but im not quite sure what that was from my Vantage Point but every now and then this what we would see the police do around here is that theyd activists keep everyone on edge keep the tension how are they if anything because you never know when theyre just going to suddenly lash out even when no ones actions during everything that is in the hotel to the constitution so thats one thing that happened here but i am joined by one of the protesters here. Your name is. The name is ada eliot tell us why youre here today what are you trying to treat well. And all the messed up nonsense thats going on and like the past couple weeks i feel like people need to come out here and like give positive energy give off positive positive positive a push in the right direction against like how do i say this against on. Against well the fact that everyone matters everybody has a place in this world the owner as you can see the energy has had. I want i want a president trying to make better decisions with everything that with coronavirus everything could have been planned better the only way we could have this could this could have been prevented the on and now we have peoples lives at risk and then the fact that people cant just walk out like a forgery thats not a crime to be killed over and all you have to do is write write a mark on the bill give it back to me like you cant pay with this you dont need to call it a cops over people on over over forgery. Promoting seem to get to some sort of police understand why youre here and what needs to be done i mean obviously obviously i know im here. People have come here fit a Different Reasons i dont really agree with everybody here but for the most but i think most of the people got the same idea that i havent asked idea that everybody on his way on this planet matters everybody on this planet has a place everybody has everybody has power and we need to unite and you know. You know demonstrate to the police that we have we have a place in this well what about the coffee whats going to happen are you going to go about her off the odd i dont think im a go home i know why not well im with my mom but. Thats to be honest we might leave in like the next couple minutes but were probably going to come back and like a little bit i said important to break the curfew i mean why have a curfew now on say you just open back up the city let like yesterday well friday but officially open on monday so why why why bring back a curfew now. Are you so much. And that is what were waiting for now is that what will actually happen once the official curfew begins in about an hour and a whole if we noted yesterday for the police began firing tear gas or protests around around this time much and yesterday well before the curfew because there is this. The power to escalate things as always lies in the hands of the police force over there and when they start charging out us when they start hauling the tear gas and the problems of a couple spray and so on and that was you know even reporting that the National Guard is actively involved in the white house grounds now will be here. Well indeed and shambled the crossing live to you as things develop thank you. And now lets cross to rob reynolds hes among protesters in los angeles the other side to all of the country what are sings looking like their role. Well right now a barbara im standing at a major intersection in the whats called the west would section of los angeles and then as you can see there are protesters your. Share change the name of george floyd the name of brianna taylor. Motorists are passing by or holding their orange in a show of support let me just get out of the way in our cameraman because he did you know get a little sense of give you a little sense of whats going on here as he hands around now police have been really keeping their distance from this is but just a minute or 2 ago we saw a truck full of california National Guard troops. In an armored humvee also heading up better veterans avenue in that direction dont know what thats all about dont know if something. Is happening there or if theyre simply moving from place to place but i would describe the mood in the spirit here as peaceful and passionate you know people are very very outspoken people are chanting people. Leave their voices heard at the same time you could see its almost kind of a festive atmosphere is a young ladies came by a few minutes ago and started handing out balloons maybe as a way of sort of. Trying to diffuse any kind of bitterness and tension the governor of california earlier today he spoke at length about the need to stop giving lip service to the idea of Racial Justice and reform of the Justice System reform of policing practices he said we only prove things around the edges but we never actually rip it out by the roots so. Right now everything is peaceful passionate yes peaceful yes. We shall see if that remains the case and i should also mention barbara very interesting really there were 2 other demonstrations that were steads will take place today in various parts of the city but the organizers cancelled those those individual demonstrations because they said we dont want there to be an outbreak of violence or ransacking of breaking into stores and windows and so on the kind of thing that we saw several times over the past several days barbara yeah probably like that we describe that the demonstration behind us peaceful and passionate it is worth always reminding ourselves and our viewers that most of the demonstrations have been peaceful since the killing of 4 drop reynolds with the latest there from Los Angeles Rob thank you. Kids take a look at some of the days other news now the democratic republic of congo has reported a fresh Ebola Outbreak in its northwest the Health Minister says 4 people have already died in baca which is the capital of a quitter province the city is a transport hub on the congo river with a population of more than a 1000000 at the turn province was previously hit by any ball outbreak between may and july 2018 more than 2000 people have died since late 2018. Since the 31st of may the city of mumbai in dhaka reported cases of him right to people or 2 people does that positive another 2 suspected infections are poured. Are on complement. Or do you not to panic because the ministry of health has taken all the necessary measures to respond effectively to this 11th of all outbreak the World Health Organization says claims that covert 19 appears to be losing its potency must be taken with extreme caution on sunday a leading italian doctor said new infections in the country appear to be much less lethal doesnt agree lho is the head of the sort of fellow hospital in the land which has borne the brunt of a sleaze outbreak he says newly infected patients have far weaker symptoms his comments of cause division across italy with the virus has killed more than 33000 people the 3rd highest test toll in the world well in the past hour i spoke to a leading viral a just and former italian politician a cop was started by asking for her reaction to doctors and when those statement. What i can say is that. Coded 19 is course caused by a virus but its not only caused by a virus its caused by a virus which interacts with a certain demographic of population its caused by a virus that can behave in different ways if you have different underlying conditions its caused by a virus that can make you sick if more sick if for example you live in a polluted environment and what i can say for sure is that the italian doctors have certainly learned and improved incredibly in keeping infection under control within hospital scenting zone within Public Health settings but of course they have developed incredibly efficient ways of treating patients where now a few weeks sensitively relax thats locked down looking at the contagion rate for example would you call it a success. I would so calling it a success in any country is a big is a big word and were not out yet i would say that italians how. Completely been compliant especially the categories at risk i think that there have been some groups of people that have misbehaved and that have creative a series of clusters but generally speaking the most fragile part of the population has understood its fragility and has understood that they need to be part of the solution and not part of the problem madam obviously youre leading over all of just well in the world in italy and especially but youre speaking to us from the United States and were seeing many protests across the United States right now after the killing of george floyd how dangerous is it at this stage of the pandemic that the u. S. Finds itself in the have so many gatherings of people in so many different parts of the country yes so this is i think very risky. And you know just to go back to the statement that you mentioned before about the virus disappearing or clinically disappearing this virus is not only present in italy in italy there are some very good doctors and theres a very Good Health Care in other parts of the world this is not the same and we know that unfortunately certain statements which have been made for example in brazil also in other parts of the world have caused massive spread and we really really have to understand that its people its us that make the difference a 2nd use way let that message forgive me for interrupting you saying that message is getting across in the United States which is seeing so many protests and gatherings right now. Unfortunately i think that in the United States there and there is an explosive situation due to to the fact that this this virus which is a its a stress test for many systems it has less and many people without a job these people dont have health care and its just triggered unrest and when theres unrest people dont think and therefore. The they really not think that theyre putting their own health in the health of here theyre the people who have their families at risk. Let it happen or a leading biologist speaking to us from florida were going to have to leave it there for now but we hope to have you on our air and again its been fascinating talking to you thank you thank you very much. South africa is ease some restrictions 2 months after one of the strictest lockdowns in africa long queues formed outside Liquor Stores across the country as a ban on the sale of alcohol was lifted. The ban was aimed at allowing hospitals to build capacity to treat coronavirus patients alcohol fueled violence is a big problem in the country the changes also mean more people can return to work but the opening of schools has been pushed back over. Crowds have been across the netherlands as bars restaurants and museums and theaters were allowed to open the number of new infections is dropped steadily in recent weeks there but businesses have been told to enforce strict social distancing rules so fast and reports from amsterdam. Keeping a distance while having an intimate dinner this restaurant came up with the solution of these glass houses people sharing a household are allowed to dine out together for the 1st time in 2 months. This by district rules of only 30 people in a restaurant and one and a half metres between the tables many in the netherlands could not wait to socialize. In amsterdam is famous shopping district the security guards are struggling to keep shoppers one and a half meters apart as soon as the shops reopened the center was flooded with people as if the coronavirus pandemic was already forgotten. It is complicated people are overtaking or walking fast or still we need to adjust to this new reality its a challenge but we will get there it will need some charm and we need to do with the relatively high number of nearly 6000 reported covert 19 deaths the government has been blamed for being too lenient most markets like this one have remained open after a socalled intelligent lock down wasnt forced the dutch have chosen to have a one and a half meters distance between each other because thats the equivalent of 2 arm length and easy to remember but with markets and other Public Places becoming busier those who belong to high risk groups are even more scared to go outside thomson is forced to stay in isolation until a vaccine is found because of her weak lungs this ng a lost most of her income while she cant perform. She says the government has created the fight within society the more freedom others have the less we have it and its quite strange because the risk group if you want to call it that has been been left out already. So its actually the divide is becoming the vision is becoming a more and more while masks are now mandatory on public transport the government has officially discourage people from wearing them anywhere else how the activists see this proves that the government still able to achieve the socalled herd immunity by letting the virus spread if those possibilities have not been fully exhausted i dont see why choosing mitigation. Can be seen as anything other than. An utter failure to protect the people youre morally and legally obligated to protect and even to the point of considering it a crime against humanity even the government was not available to comment on the allegations looking at busy parks at his 1st day of free nutri them worries about a 2nd wave of infections seem far away a step faster aljazeera. Lets many countries start to reopen its become clear the pandemic has changed the way that many people live and work thats forcing governments to rethink how cities and towns are built and as wayne have reports now from or clint new zealand its leading to investment in new urban designs. As more people emerge from the coronavirus hibernation theyre finding their communities a changing in many cities and towns around the world footpads are being widened to allow for more space between pedestrians or as its known now social distancing more cycle lanes are being created so theres less reliance on public transport in new zealand so called tactical open ism the process of making quick interim low cost changes that over time become permanent was being trial before the pandemic now the government is investing in modifying city streets momentum has been built and certainly a lot of people we work with the local council around the country on their bar already thinking about operating and working and cycling across a crowd of ours kind of artists in personalized some of the kind of effect of tolls labor has to offer next price you know its happening all over the world including in the spanish capital madrid where some roads are being closed to vehicles to allow for cycling and pedestrians modes of on the one of him im still colliding with others but i think its a great idea and they should keep it up. And corona virus may change a lot more about the way we live and work if we are to adapt and learn from coronavirus in terms of the way we design our cities and lifestyles then it wont necessarily be a new thing over the centuries pandemics in outbreaks of lead to significant changes in infrastructure design and policy that ultimately created healthier safer environments now architects in urban planners are looking at what this pandemics legacy might be like cities with more open shared spaces making facilities like sports venues able to be quickly changed for another use designing healthy of buildings that rely less on a conditioning and more on natural ventilation and lights and posing the question to many of us really need to physically go to work at all therefore making urban centers less congested. And so. The concern is however that as the world recovers from the pandemic the epa tight for significant change in urban design and architecture will fade governments are investing now but may not be so keen as the economic fallout from covert 19 worsens and money is diverted elsewhere but those pushing for change say the cost of not preparing for the next outbreak would be too high wayne hey al jazeera or clint there have been further protests in israel over the shooting of an autistic palestinian man by Israeli Police 32 year old the hell out cole was chased and killed in occupied East Jerusalem on saturday officer a suspect that he was carrying a gun and fired at him after he ran away when ordered to stop Harry Fawcett has more.
