Daytona Beach, FL - After he suddenly announced his resignation, the Bethune-Cookman University Board of Trustees says Dr. E. LaBrent Chrite is leaving the school for a new job in Massachusetts. Another press release from the board says Dr. Chrite will leave at the end of the academic year to serve as president at Bentley University, a private university in the city of Waltham, Massachusetts—which is just 13 miles west of Boston. "Serving as president of this historic Black university has been a remarkable and rewarding experience and one I will always cherish," Dr. Chrite said in the release. According to a press release from Bentley University, Dr. Chrite was chosen to be the school's ninth president following a nationwide search. University officials additionally mentioned that the school's board of trustees voted unanimously to confirm Chrite's new position. "Brent Chrite shares our vision and passion for educating ethical leaders who make business a force for positive change," said Paul Condrin, interim president and chair of the Bentley University board of trustees. "He has dedicated his career to improving business education and expanding economic opportunities across the country and around the world, and I know he will lead Bentley University to greater heights in the years to come." As of Thursday (March 17th), there is no word on who will fill Dr. Chrite's position following his departure.
